Service with a BIG Smile…
About 15 Buckhorn employees from Milford, Ohio, visited Cincinnati’s Ronald McDonald House on December 21, 2011 to donate, prepare and serve breakfast to residents.
Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Cincinnati provides a supportive “home away from home” for families and their children, who are receiving medical treatment at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center or other area hospitals, regardless of their ability to pay. This program provides a much-needed service to families who are supporting their sick children and often don’t have the time, funds or energy to prepare a healthy, home-cooked meal.
The first Ronald McDonald House opened in Philadelphia in 1974, thanks to Dr. Audrey Evans, Philadelphia Eagles’ player Fred Hill (whose daughter, Kim, had leukemia), Leonard Tose, owner of the Eagles, Jim Murray, the Eagles’ general manager and Ed Rensi, the McDonald’s regional manager. The McDonald’s owner/operators in Philadelphia made the House possible, donating proceeds from the sale of Shamrock Shakes.
In 1984, Ronald McDonald House Charities was officially established in memory of McDonald’s founder Ray Kroc, a strong advocate for children. In 2011, the first Ronald McDonald House opened in Thailand, making it the 309 Ronald McDonald House in the world.
“We believe that when you change a child’s life, you change a family’s, which can change a community, and ultimately the world. We strive to be part of that change and part of the solution in improving the lives of children and their families by providing programs that strengthen families during their most difficult or challenging times.” At Ronald McDonald House Charities, we owe our continued success to the tireless work of volunteers and the countless contributions from our donors.
Because of you, we’ve been helping improve the lives of children and their families for 37 years.
